Application design and development

The design and development of software applications and libraries is one of his main strengths. A large experience can be offered for several programming languages (mainly C, C++, and Java but also Scheme and Perl) and for several development platforms (Emacs and GNU tools on Linux, CygWin and Visual C++ on Windows, and CodeWarrior on Macintosh). The development of networking, multimedia, and database applications is assured.

Multimedia projects

The intervention in multimedia or artistic projects includes the use of a wide range of technologies. Here are some examples: setting up MP3 streaming services in connection with databases (icecast, Perl, MySQL); implementing Xtra's for MacroMedia's Director; developing small shockwaves and applications in Director; implementing real-time signal processing applications or 3D graphics applications (OpenGL).

Database development

The design and development of relational databases, as well as the installation and administration of MySQL and PostgreSQL is offered. Existing or newly developed databases can be integrated into web applications using the Apache HTTP server in tandem with PHP, Java servlets, JSP, C, or Perl.

Linux system management

For web based projects, the installation and configuration of Linux systems (RedHat and derivatives) and Internet server applications (HTTP, mail, RDBMS, DNS, Windows connectivity) can be assured.

Web development

Web site development includes the use of such technologies as HTML4, JavaScript, Java, Flash, and Shockwave. If the client wishes to make his database contents available on his web site, assistance in the transition and integration with the dynamic contents can be provided.

Consulting

With a solid experience in software development, Peter Hanappe can also assist the client in the study, the specification, and the supervision of their software projects.

Peter Hanappe favors working with free software (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PostgreSQL, PHP, Perl, CVS, Emacs, make, gcc, ...) for their stability, transparency, efficiency, and cost, but also because he supports [Free software] and the [OpenSource] model.

Note: Prices can be adapted for projects that publish under an OpenSource license.

Peter Hanappe has been working as a free-lance developer in Paris, France, since May 1999, after finishing his Ph.D. in Computer Science.
